Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Production Support Engineer for a top financial services client. This individual will serve as a critical troubleshooting expert focused on automated workflow and orchestration failures across a large-scale enterprise environment. The ideal candidate comes from a strong production support background and excels at incident resolution and root cause analysis rather than monitoring or operations execution. This role will primarily support an Ansible-driven automation ecosystem and requires someone comfortable digging into Ansible playbooks, Splunk logs, middleware platforms, and Linux environments to determine exactly where workflows are failing. The engineer will investigate configuration, authentication, connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues, partnering closely with engineering teams to drive resolution and improve platform stability. Experience supporting middleware technologies such as JBoss, Tomcat, and Apache will be highly valuable. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically curious problem solver who enjoys unraveling complex automation failures and making meaningful improvements to enterprise-scale platforms. Day-to-Day: Investigate and resolve incidents impacting automated workflows and orchestration processes Perform detailed RCA on failed automation executions Review Ansible playbooks and automation workflows to determine failure points Analyze logs in Splunk and Ansible Tower to isolate and remediate issues Troubleshoot middleware-related automation failures involving JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, and similar platforms Break down complex automated workflows to identify root causes Diagnose configuration, authentication, connectivity, and infrastructure issues Partner with engineering and platform teams to drive resolution Document findings, resolutions, and RCA outcomes Create recommendations to improve operational stability and customer experience Support existing automation frameworks rather than build new automation solutions Learn and support proprietary orchestration platforms used within the organization Convert recurring issues and improvement opportunities into Jira stories Act as a technical resource helping identify workflow improvements for development and engineering teams

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience in Production Support, Application Support, Middleware Support, or Automation Operations Strong experience conducting incident resolution and root cause analysis (RCA) in complex enterprise environments Hands-on experience supporting Ansible automation environments, including troubleshooting Ansible playbooks and workflow failures Experience reviewing and analyzing logs through Splunk and/or Ansible Tower Strong understanding of orchestrated automation workflows and the ability to trace failures across multiple components Middleware expertise supporting technologies such as: JBoss Tomcat Apache WebSphere/WebLogic (preferred equivalents) Ability to troubleshoot application-to-application and server communication issues Strong Linux/Unix troubleshooting skills Experience identifying configuration, connectivity, authentication, and infrastructure-related issues impacting automated workflows Experience supporting enterprise automation platforms and orchestration engines Prior experience with proprietary workflow orchestration tools Scripting or automation experience supporting operational environments Financial services or large enterprise production support background Experience documenting root cause findings and creating operational runbooks Exposure to middleware automation and configuration management initiatives Experience supporting highly automated infrastructure or platform operations teams
