Maybury Wayken Up Cattle, LLC is looking for an experienced and dependableFull-Time Cattle & Farm Operations Technicianto join our team.

This is ahands-on positionresponsible for the daily care and feeding of beef cattle, monitoring herd health, moving cattle, maintaining pastures and fences, operating farm equipment, and helping keep the cattle operation running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate hasprevious cattle and farm experience, is dependable, hardworking, safety-minded, comfortable working with cattle and farm equipment, mechanically inclined, and able to work outdoors in all types of weather.

What You’ll Do

You’ll help support Maybury Wayken Up Cattle’s daily cattle operations by providing proper care for the herd, maintaining facilities and pastures, and safely operating equipment to complete daily farm tasks.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare, mix, measure, and distribute daily feed rations

• Provide fresh water to cattle and monitor water availability

• Monitor feed supplies and inventory and notify management when additional feed is needed

• Observe cattle daily for signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior

• Identify sick or injured cattle and assist with appropriate treatment or contact a veterinarian as directed

• Assist with vaccinations, tagging, branding, and other routine cattle health and handling procedures

• Safely handle and move cattle between pastures, pens, and other handling areas

• Assist with rotational grazing and monitor pasture conditions

• Maintain high standards of animal care, health, and welfare

• Monitor water lines, airflow, and temperatures in barns and pens

• Operate tractors, skid steers, loaders, and other farm equipment to haul hay, distribute feed, move materials, and complete other farm tasks

• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs to farm equipment and facilities

• Maintain and repair fences, gates, water troughs, and other cattle facilities

• Maintain clean, neat, and safe barns, pens, pastures, and work areas

• Sweep, shovel, clean, and perform general farm housekeeping as needed

• Monitor equipment and report mechanical or operational problems to management

• Work safely around cattle, trucks, tractors, loaders, and other heavy equipment

• Follow company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Work with supervisors and team members to complete daily cattle and farm operations

• Perform other duties as assigned by management

What We’re Looking For

• Previous cattle and livestock handling & moving experience is required

• Previous farm or agricultural work experience is required

• Knowledge of cattle behavior, health, feeding, handling, and animal welfare

• Experience operating tractors, skid steers, loaders, and other farm equipment

• Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills

• Basic math skills and ability to accurately measure feed and follow feed rations

• Ability to recognize signs of illness, injury, or changes in animal behavior

• Ability to safely handle and work around cattle

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to follow directions and established procedures

• Ability and willingness to work weekends and adjust hours based on livestock and operational needs

Schedule

Full-Time Position

Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, plus either Saturday or Sunday.

The full-time employee will work one weekend day each week.

Part-Time Position

Starting at 7:00 AM, with a schedule based on the needs of the cattle operation, plus either Saturday or Sunday.

The part-time employee will work the opposite weekend day from the full-time employee so that the cattle operation is staffed throughout the weekend.

Schedules may vary based on livestock needs, weather, feeding schedules, cattle handling, and operational needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and carryup to 75 pounds

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sweep, shovel, climb stairs and ladders, and perform repetitive physical tasks

• Ability to work around and safely handle cattle

• Ability to work around tractors, trucks, loaders, and other heavy machinery

• Comfortable working in a dusty, dirty, and sometimes noisy agricultural environment; appropriate PPE will be provided

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust

• Ability to perform physically demanding work as needed

• Ability to safely perform tasks around livestock and farm equipment

Pay $17.00 to $21.00 Hour
