ABOUT US

Nashville NeuroGym is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to redefine recovery for people living with neurological disorders. We pair advanced rehabilitation robotics with experienced clinical professionals to deliver activity-based programming that is personalized, goal-driven, and built to last. We have served more than 80 adults and children across Middle Tennessee living with stroke, spinal cord injury, MS, TBI, Parkinson's, cerebral palsy, and other neurological conditions.

Our program is built around Rise&Walk, an FDA-registered robotic rehabilitation system supporting seated, standing, and walking training in a single device. Participants come to us shortly after inpatient rehab, alongside outpatient therapy, or years after injury as an ongoing wellness tool.

Note: we are a wellness gym, not a physical therapy clinic, and we operate under the guidance of specialized physical therapists.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Program Operations Coordinator to become the day-to-day operational backbone of the program. This is a volunteer role of roughly 10 hours per week, and it is broad by design. You will be the first voice a prospective participant hears when they call, the person who gets a demo on the calendar, the one chasing down a grant deadline, and the one making sure an event actually comes together.

This is a strong fit for a student or recent graduate who wants real ownership rather than a role shadowing someone else doing the work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Participant intake and follow-up — return calls from prospective participants and families, answer questions, and keep clear records
• Scheduling — coordinate demos, initial evaluations, and sessions with our clinical staff
• Referral outreach — build relationships with PTs, OTs, physicians, inpatient rehab units, and support groups across Middle Tennessee
• Grant research and applications — find opportunities that fit our mission, track deadlines, and help draft and submit
• Fundraising support — donor outreach, giving campaigns, sponsorships, and gift acknowledgment
• Marketing and communications — social content, participant stories, email updates, and outreach materials
• Event planning — open houses, demo days, community events, and fundraisers
• General operations — records, simple reporting, trackers, and the range of tasks that come with a small nonprofit

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Comfortable on the phone. Many inquiries come from patients and families in a difficult moment. Be warm, be clear, and call people back.
• Self-directed. You'll often be the only person on a given task.
• Organized. You can hold a schedule, a grant calendar, and a referral list without being reminded.
• A capable writer. Grant applications, donor notes, and social posts all come out of this role.
• Discreet with health information and personal circumstances.
• Motivated by helping people regain mobility and independence.

Current students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply — especially in physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise science, kinesiology, public health, nonprofit management, health administration, communications, or business. No prior nonprofit experience required.

WHAT YOU GET

• Academic credit where your program allows — we're glad to work with your school's internship or practicum requirements, including supervisor sign-offs, learning objectives, and hour logs

THE DETAILS

• Volunteer, unpaid, approximately 10 hours per week
• On-site at 240 Great Circle Rd., Suite 333, Nashville, TN 37228, with some remote work
• Flexible around class schedules; availability needed on our operating days (currently Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
• As the program grows and funding allows, we intend for this to become a paid role, and we'd look first to the person already doing the work
