Accounts Payable Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to support a growing organization in Oak Brook, Illinois on a Contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who can bring structure to a fast-moving environment following a recent acquisition while partnering closely with accounting leadership. The right candidate will combine strong accounts payable expertise with a steady, solutions-focused approach and experience improving processes through modern AP technology.

Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day accounts payable operations, ensuring invoices, payments, and approvals are processed accurately and on schedule.

• Partner closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to address priorities, resolve exceptions, and maintain strong communication across the finance team.

• Help stabilize AP activities during a period of organizational growth resulting from a recent acquisition.

• Manage invoice coding, payment processing, ACH activity, and check runs while maintaining proper financial controls.

• Support the evaluation, implementation, or optimization of AP automation tools, with preference for experience using Tipalti or comparable platforms.

• Work across teams to improve workflows, increase efficiency, and strengthen visibility into payable processes.

• Bring a hands-on approach to issue resolution, keeping operations moving smoothly in a high-engagement environment.

• Contribute knowledge gained from working with portfolio-backed or multi-entity businesses to help align AP practices with business needs. Requirements

• Proven experience leading accounts payable functions at the manager level.

• Strong background in invoice coding, check processing, and ACH payments.

• Experience supporting companies through acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, or similar periods of change.

• Practical exposure to implementing or enhancing AP systems; experience with Tipalti or similar AI-enabled AP software is preferred.

• Ability to work effectively in a smaller company setting with close collaboration among finance leadership.

• Comfortable handling a high-volume, interactive role while remaining calm, organized, and patient under pressure.

• Prior experience working with portfolio companies or multi-entity environments is highly valued.

The salary range for this position is $45/hour to $50/hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
