Job Title: Expedited Logistics Coordinator (TuesdaySaturday OR Sunday - Thursday)

Job Description

The Expedited Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in a fast-paced transportation and logistics operation, managing time-critical shipments from initial order entry through final delivery. This fully onsite role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can balance multiple priorities while delivering outstanding customer service. You will coordinate expedited freight movements, ensure critical milestones are met, and provide proactive, timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders across your assigned shift.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor time-critical and expedited shipments from order entry through final delivery, ensuring all service commitments are met.

  • Track shipments closely and update milestones and status information accurately and on time in the appropriate systems.

  • Communicate directly with customers, carriers, vendors, internal teams, and leadership to ensure clear, timely information flow.

  • Provide proactive shipment updates and respond quickly and professionally to customer questions, concerns, and changing requirements.

  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for order management, shipment tracking, communication, and escalation.

  • Identify shipment delays, service issues, or potential problems and escalate them appropriately to ensure rapid resolution.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and effectively communicate important shipment information between shifts to support 24/7 operations.

  • Manage a high volume of phone calls, emails, shipment updates, and operational tasks throughout the shift.

  • Respond promptly to new orders and adjust plans based on changing shipment requirements or priorities.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and leadership to maintain high levels of customer service and on-time performance.

  • Participate in department meetings, training sessions, and process updates to stay current on operational procedures.

  • Handle additional operational responsibilities and tasks as assigned to support the overall logistics operation.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven transportation and logistics environment.

  • Ability to juggle multiple shipments, emails, calls, and priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.

  • Strong customer service skills, with a professional and well-spoken phone presence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and consistent follow-through on tasks and commitments.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions when dealing with urgent or changing situations.

  • Comfortable being on the phone for most of the day in a call center-style environment.

  • Go-getter mentality with a proactive, self-motivated approach to work.

  • Good job tenure that demonstrates reliability and commitment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, freight forwarding, or customer service is preferred.

  • 1+ years of logistics experience is a plus.

  • Experience with Next Flight Out (NFO), expedited freight, time-critical shipments, or vendor/carrier operations is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with third-party logistics (3PL) operations and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is beneficial.

  • General knowledge of U.S. and international geography is helpful for routing and shipment planning.

  • Customer service-based experience, particularly in high-volume or call center environments, is advantageous.

  • Interest in building a long-term career in supply chain and logistics.

  • Motivation to grow within the organization, with an understanding that the role offers strong career development and long-term opportunities once hired directly.

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite in a fast-paced transportation and logistics operation that supports time-critical shipments and operates 24/7. The environment is highly team-oriented, with close collaboration across multiple shifts to ensure continuous coverage for expedited freight. You will work in a call center-style setting where you are on the phone for much of the day, handling a high volume of customer and carrier interactions. Multiple shifts are available, including TuesdaySaturday options such as 06:0014:00, 10:0018:00, 12:0020:00, 14:0022:00, and 22:0006:00, as well as similar SundayThursday shifts. While the standard expectation is fully onsite, there may be potential for hybrid flexibility in the future. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belleville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
