Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions:

Procurement & Inventory Management

• Oversee the inventory, tracking, and documentation of all CECE department equipment.

• Identify departmental equipment needs for teaching and research; assist with managing faculty startup purchases ensuring compliance with TTU-approved vendors or authoring sole-source justifications.

• Responsible for overseeing CECE vehicle fleet maintenance and fuel billing

Facilities & Building Operations

• Oversee maintenance, repairs, and space optimization for all on-campus and remote CECE facilities (offices, classrooms, and labs) in consultation with the Department Chair.

• Serves as the primary point of contact for after-hours building emergencies, facility repairs, and urgent maintenance calls.

Academic & Research Laboratory Management

• Ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, and upgrading of all academic and research laboratory facilities.

• Operate and supervise machine shop equipment and fabrication activities, including machining, welding, and related manufacturing processes.

• Develop laboratory usage protocols; train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students utilizing lab spaces.

• Collaborate with faculty and researchers to support research through equipment selection, fabrication, experimental setup, instrumentation, calibration, and field testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of TTU Procurement, safety, and inventory management systems.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software for engineering design and fabrication.

• Experience with laboratory instrumentation, data acquisition systems, calibration, and testing equipment.

• Experience operating and maintaining machine shop equipment and welding equipment.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
