*D.R. Horton, Inc.*is currently looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator I. The right candidate will participate in keeping the the Companany's Mircosoft SQL Server database environment up and running smoothly 24/7. Responsible to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform daily monitoring and analysis of Microsfot SQL Server databases and SQL server instances to ensure the continuance of operations
  • Perform Microsoft SQL Server performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal system performance. Major areas of support in this area will include sizing, throughput, scalability, and dependability
  • Ensure the security of databases
  • Perform regular backups of Microsoft SQL Server databases and database servers
  • Perform restorations of backups in case of system failure or data loss
  • Review all changes to existing production databases to ensure that such changes do not negatively impact database performance or reliability
  • Collaborate with software developers to implement new SQL Server database schemas, stored procedures, user defined functions, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, SQL Server Agent jobs, and other database-related solutions
  • Promote database changes through software development lifecycle process
  • Follow the pre-defined development standards for naming conventions, user interface, etc.
  • Migrate data between Microsoft SQL Server databases to new databases or between database environments
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to participate in on call rotation
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Zero to two years’ experience supporting production Mircosoft SQL Server environments as a Database Administrator, Junior Database Administrator, or Database Administrator Intern
  • Strong verbal communication and written documentation skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with Mircsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

  • Exposure to T-SQL querying, database maintenance, and backup and recovery concepts

  • Basic understanding of SQL Server high avaialbility and disaster recovery concepts
