Electrical Designer

Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking an Electrical Designer to join a client in the engineering consulting industry in Jacksonville, Florida. This individual will support a variety of industrial projects, with a strong focus on chemical plants, pulp and paper facilities, and other heavy industrial environments. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for developing detailed electrical design drawings and construction packages using AutoCAD, while working closely with engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and applicable standards. Responsibilities include preparing electrical layouts, power distribution drawings, conduit and cable routing plans, equipment installation details, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycle. The individual will participate in field walk-downs, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and help resolve design challenges during project execution. This role is fully on-site at EGS's Jacksonville office and requires a self-motivated professional who thrives in a consulting engineering environment and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills and Requirements

• 5-10+ years of electrical design experience
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and demonstrated electrical design skills
• Industrial electrical design experience
• Experience supporting chemical plants, pulp & paper facilities, or similar heavy industrial environments
• Previous experience working for a consulting engineering firm
• Strong understanding of electrical design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and clients
• Experience with power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and industrial controls
• Experience performing field walk-downs and site investigations
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
• Experience supporting brownfield facility modifications and capital projects
• Exposure to multiple industrial markets including manufacturing, chemical, and pulp & paper
