POSITION SUMMARY

The Cycle Count Team Leader keeps daily cycle count activities moving while helping the team grow and succeed. This role leads the day-to-day work of the cycle counting area by assigning priorities, coordinating and delegating counts, and coaching team members on standard work and inventory processes. The Team Leader serves as a key quality check for inventory accuracy by reviewing results, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring issues are resolved appropriately. In addition to supporting the team on the floor, this role maintains daily management activities, monitors inventory accuracy and performance trends, identifies process improvement opportunities, and partners with cross-functional teams to improve inventory accuracy and overall operational efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the Cycle Count team, including assigning work, setting priorities, balancing workload, and adjusting assignments as needs change.

  • Execute and oversee daily cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and timely completion of counting activities.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and variances, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

  • Report on cycle count results, inventory accuracy, trends, and corrective actions; use data to identify problems and opportunities for improvement.

  • Coach and train team members on cycle counting procedures, inventory processes, standard work, and material-handling practices; validate competencies and support skill development.

  • Partner with Production, Purchasing, Planning, and other departments to resolve inventory discrepancies, address stock-out concerns, and improve replenishment strategies.

  • Work with Production teams to evaluate material flow and replenishment processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and inventory accuracy.

  • Own daily management activities for the area, including maintaining the Q-board, communicating priorities and results, and encouraging team participation.

  • Conduct standard-work, safety, and 5S audits to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.

  • Lead continuous-improvement efforts related to cycle counting, inventory control, material flow, and standard work; develop and support corrective actions and control plans as needed.

  • Work through cross-functional issues, escalating concerns when appropriate and ensuring assigned action items are followed through to completion.

  • Lead daily communication for the area, including start-of-shift and end-of-shift updates, priorities, inventory concerns, and outstanding action items.

  • Follow Leader Standard Work and model established processes, safety expectations, quality standards, and company procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, inventory control, materials, or a related environment.

  • Previous experience in a working lead, team lead, senior operator, or similar leadership role preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members in a manufacturing or materials environment.

  • Strong understanding of inventory control practices, including cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, discrepancy investigation, and root-cause analysis.

  • Working knowledge of lean principles and continuous-improvement tools, including 5S, standard work, daily management, and Kaizen, with the ability to coach others on these practices.

  • Ability to independently investigate inventory and process issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience working with ERP systems for inventory records, transactions, metrics, and reporting; Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.

  • Comfortable monitoring and reporting on inventory accuracy, cycle count results, trends, corrective actions, and other area-level metrics.

  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and other business software used for communication, documentation, and reporting.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead team huddles, provide effective coaching, communicate expectations, and follow up with cross-functional partners.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

The target hourly range is $24.00 - $29.00, depending upon qualifications and experience. The posted pay range reflects the expected compensation for a fully qualified candidate. Starting pay may be above or below this range based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and training needs..

In addition to hourly pay, the compensation package also includes eligibility for profit-sharing and monthly bonus opportunity.
