Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Fixed Asset Accountant to join a well established organization in Santa Paula, California on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate fixed asset records, supporting month-end accounting activities, and ensuring financial schedules and reconciliations are complete and reliable. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound judgment in handling complex accounting tasks, and the ability to manage multiple reporting and compliance deadlines effectively.
Responsibilities:

Oversee fixed asset records and monthly rollforward activity, ensuring balances are accurate and aligned with the general ledger across multiple entities.

Maintain construction-in-progress tracking and prepare supporting schedules for capital projects and asset-related activity.

Develop and update amortization and capitalized interest schedules to support accurate financial reporting.

Monitor capital spending by comparing budgeted amounts to actual results and highlighting notable variances.

Record and reconcile corporate credit card activity, bank accounts, and line of credit transactions in a timely manner.

Review general ledger activity, complete monthly account reconciliations, and prepare both recurring and ad hoc journal entries.

Produce departmental budget-to-actual reporting and assist with weekly disbursements while providing backup support for accounts payable functions.

Coordinate property tax payments, business license renewals, and other corporate compliance filings, while preparing audit and tax support schedules for year-end reporting.
Requirements • 5+ years of accounting experience, including significant responsibility for fixed assets and month-end close activities.

Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.

Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, fixed asset depreciation, and maintaining fixed asset records.

Ability to prepare and manage detailed supporting schedules for audits, tax reporting, loans, and capital projects.

Experience analyzing budget-to-actual results and investigating fluctuations in financial activity.

Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems, with the ability to organize large amounts of financial data accurately.

Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
