Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 145,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.

Summary

Research, prepare and deliver Distributed Generation (DG) interconnection solutions to address client critical issues and needs. Make recommendations on systems, processes, and procedures related to changes and improvements. Support DG operations and application issues encountered by the local business units. Interface with peers in other departments in order to provide application support and testing for multiple in-house developed software packages that support the DG client community. Participation in inter-company and inter-departmental committees related to DG projects, information management, and data quality. Work to maintain service quality to reduce errors and costs, and improve safety, customer satisfaction, System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) , and Customer Average Interruption Duration Index (CAIDI).

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Directly or through others, the incumbent:

  • Interface with external customers to assist in the DG interconnection process, including reviewing and preparing public facing documentation of requirements, assisting with trainings held for external customers over company requirements and systems, and providing direction or next steps for customer and installer challenges.

  • Leadership of and participation in inter-company committees and/or projects with Oncor Electric Delivery, planning, operations, engineering, system protection and other organizations. Work collaboratively with these business partners to provide high quality interconnection solutions to clients. Also develop processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the business.

  • Work with these business partners to maintain and improve DG service quality and integrity while working also upon various linked work processes and procedures. DG service quality reduces errors, improves customer satisfaction, and reduces costs. Errors impact safety and outage restoration, and dramatically impact SAIDI and CAIDI. This directly affects profitability.

  • Develop a deep understanding and knowledge of technology. Maintain an understanding of changing technology and its impact on Oncor. Assist others in learning and understanding technology. Take massive amounts of data and boil it down to the critical components that others need to know, and then assist them in understanding the material.

Education and Experience

The minimum education and experience:

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of basic programming and querying, such as Python or Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Knowledge of the electric delivery system and DG interconnection procedures, guides, and protocols.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Oncor electric delivery systems.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Transmission, Distribution, and Information Technology systems.

  • Understands how DG impacts the goals and objectives of Oncor Electric Delivery.

  • Supports issues, and metrics surrounding Oncor Electric Delivery’s goals and objectives.

  • Growing knowledge of integrating DG with Transmission, Distribution, and Information Technology systems.

Engineering Analyst

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and six years experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields, OR

  • Associate’s degree in business, engineering, computer science or a related field and four years of experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines and two years experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields.

Engineering Analyst Senior

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and eight years experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields, OR

  • Associate’s degree in business, engineering, computer science or a related field and six years of experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines and four years experience in project management, the electric utility industry, or computer science fields.

Measures of Success

  • Fosters positive and effective relationships with clients and related stakeholders.

  • Strives for accuracy.

  • Manages day-to-day relationships with stakeholders and outside entities concerning future and in-flight DG projects.

  • The development of short and long term DG strategies and objectives.

  • Maintain detailed and organized files.
