Job Summary

Responsible for conducting analysis and interpretation of data. This includes monitoring incoming and outgoing payments, Cost Report statistics and any historical information that impacts the Medicare cost reports. Responsible for assisting with the preparation of reports that will be shared with governmental entities. This position works closely with and collaborates with Reimbursement and Supplemental Program.Job Description Desired Skill Sets:

  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree to be considered

  • Experience in Medicare cost reporting

  • Working as a MAC Auditor is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration or a closely related business field required Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • 0-3 years of experience in healthcare cost report reimbursement, patient billing, or general patient financial services

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and perform duties on an as needed basis.

  • Strong ability to multitask and work in team environment and be a cross functional collaborator.

  • Awareness of General Ledger applications (e.g. Lawson, Oracle), SQL, and Epic

  • Strong analytical skills

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and completion of routine departmental functions in partnership with Senior and Specialist staff.

  • Ensure the journal entries are accurately posted to the general ledger and provide account analysis.

  • Compiles and analyzes physician time studies.

  • Enters Resident's rotation schedules and other demographic information in the applicable CMS software.

  • Captures and gathers monthly statistics, which include summarizing the data needed for the preparation of the annual Medicare/Medicaid Cost Report(s).

  • Prepares portions of the Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reports as assigned to include but not limited to Reclasses, Adjustments and Statistics.

  • Input source data for the Cost Report into the applicable software program.

  • Gather data for special projects as needed.

  • Setup Cost Report on applicable tool for the applicable year.

  • Research Bad Debt to support claiming for reimbursement.

  • Prepare other Month End analysis as needed.

  • Assist with appeal operations as needed.

  • Prepare and file Tricare Cost Reports.

  • Ensure the Medicare, Medicaid and other correspondence received are filed in the correspondence folders.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
