Job Description
Insight Global is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join a client in the commercial construction industry. This individual will prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects, including pursuits and programs valued at more than $1 billion. The Mechanical Estimator will review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents while performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related building systems. They will evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, identify scope gaps, assess potential cost impacts, and support pricing strategy discussions throughout the estimating process. The role requires close collaboration with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop project budgets, support estimate reviews, and contribute to project pursuits. This person will manage multiple pursuits and deadlines simultaneously while effectively communicating estimate findings, recommendations, and pricing strategies to project stakeholders.

6+ years of commercial construction estimating experience

Strong Mechanical estimating experience involving HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related building systems

Experience supporting large-scale commercial construction projects with individual project values exceeding $1 billion

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Experience utilizing construction estimating software and digital takeoff technologies (such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar tools)

Strong organizational and communication skills • Experience supporting preconstruction operations for a General Contractor

Large-scale commercial construction experience

Bluebeam experience

Experience evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals

Experience supporting design development, GMP, and final bid estimates on mega-projects

Experience coordinating with multiple trade partners and preconstruction stakeholders during large-scale pursuits
