Library Specialist 3

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a public research university committed to academic excellence, innovation, and service. We’re looking for a Library Specialist 3 to join our University of Louisiana at Lafayette team. The Library Specialist 3 performs advanced-level library duties that support the preservation, organization, management, and accessibility of library information and resources. Two years of experience in administrative services in a library setting.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties: As a Library Specialist 3, you will:

• Perform highly specialized library duties, including preservation, archival processing, microfilming, and other specialized library functions.
• Provide detailed information regarding library services and respond to questions from library patrons.
• Instruct patrons in the use of library systems, print and electronic indexes, internet resources, and other information resources.
• Resolve complex issues involving bibliographic records, including serial title changes, special languages, and specialized formats.
• Coordinate bindery, restoration, and repair activities and determine appropriate treatment methods for library materials.
• Edit and correct problematic bibliographic entries within automated library systems using established library standards and procedures.
• Monitor library databases to ensure the accuracy and consistency of information.
• Recommend and implement changes to library policies and procedures as appropriate.
• Assist with planning and conducting training programs and workshops for internal and external participants.
• Serve on standing and ad hoc committees as assigned.
• Provide functional guidance to lower-level personnel when required.
