An employer is seeking a Capture Director for a fully remote direct hire opportunity supporting growth across the Defense market. This will consist of collecting customer and competitive intelligence, assessing positioning, developing the Capture plan, building/finalizing the team, identifying discriminators, working with solution/functional leads, developing win strategy, conducting Black Hats/competitive assessments, managing pursuit actions and decisions, and keeping the team organized around a defined Capture framework.

What You'll Do Develop and implement standardized capture processes, SOPs, tools, and templates. Create a repeatable, scalable capture framework aligned with Sabel Systems business development strategy. Establish department structure, workflows, and performance metrics. Lead end-to-end capture activities for high‑priority pursuits, including opportunity qualification, win strategy development, competitive analysis, customer engagement planning, and solution shaping. Partner closely with Business Development, Technical SMEs, and Proposal Teams to ensure cohesive pursuit strategies. Conduct Black Hat/White Hat activities and integrate lessons learned into future captures. Build, mentor, and manage a capture team as the department expands. Provide coaching, knowledge transfer, and professional development for capture staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and strategic thinking. Work closely with internal stakeholders across operations, pricing, contracting, and corporate leadership to align capture efforts with company goals. Oversee development of customer call plans, gate reviews, win themes, and decision briefs. Maintain strong knowledge of DoD missions, procurement processes, and emerging acquisition trends. Engage with customers, partners, and industry to shape opportunities and build teaming relationships.

Skills and Requirements

10+ years of capture management experience with a proven record of winning competitive pursuits. Demonstrated experience building or significantly maturing a capture function within a federal contracting environment. Experience managing and mentoring capture teams. Ability to lead complex capture initiatives from qualification through award. Strong understanding of DoD acquisition, federal procurement processes, competitive analysis, and price-to-win methodologies. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Willingness to take a hands-on role in managing captures while the department grows.
