Full job description
Description We are looking for an Accountant to join a healthcare-focused organization in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in a Contract to Permanent role. This position supports premium accounting activities by managing receivable records, applying payments, and resolving account discrepancies with accuracy and care. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting operations and a customer-focused approach when working with internal teams and external contacts.
Responsibilities:

Maintain premium and policy-related accounts by reviewing financial activity, recording transactions, and completing reconciliations in a timely manner.

Apply member and employer payments accurately while ensuring receivable balances remain current and properly documented.

Investigate account variances, identify the cause of discrepancies, and communicate next steps to coordinators, employees, and other stakeholders.

Handle refund activity, returned items, account adjustments, and write-offs in accordance with established procedures and required turnaround times.

Prepare responses to billing and reconciliation questions from internal and external customers with clear, effective communication.

Review submitted forms and requests for compliance with program rules and issue appropriate correspondence when items cannot be accepted.

Complete workflow assignments, incoming mail tasks, reports, and special projects within established deadlines and quality expectations.

Protect confidential participant information and follow all applicable privacy, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Participate in required team meetings, department updates, and assigned training sessions as part of ongoing performance and compliance expectations. Requirements • Experience supporting core accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activity.

Ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Proficiency in reconciling bank statements, account balances, and transaction records.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to research discrepancies and resolve financial exceptions efficiently.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for responding to billing, policy, and account-related inquiries.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow established procedures in a regulated environment.
