Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of coaching experience with a collegiate rowing program or four (4) years of NCAA Division I Rowing experience. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by University of Louisville. Ability and willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).

Position Description:

The Assistant Rowing Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the overall coordination and execution of the University’s NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing program, including identifying and recruiting qualified student-athletes, practice and race preparation, coaching, and promoting an atmosphere of compliance within the program.

Position reports directly to the Head Rowing Coach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching: Develop skills of student-athletes, assist in preparing practice plans, implement practice plan, review and break down video and data.

Organize, prepare, and conduct individual and team practice sessions to train and prepare for competition and instruct student-athletes in techniques of the sport.

Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.

Promote a culture supportive to student-athletes post graduate goals.

Promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program through strict adherence to NCAA, ACC, and university rules and regulations through monitoring of program activities, active involvement, and commitment to continuous rules education, timely submission of compliance-related documents, and immediate reporting of any knowledge of potential rules violations involving self or others.

Interaction with Rowing boosters and booster club members

Community outreach with players and other coaches.

Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

NCAA Division I Rowing coaching experience

Strong understanding of athlete conditioning and maintenance

Experience with rowing-specific data collection modalities.

Working knowledge of recruiting and video software

Highly motivated self-starter

Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
