Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Mid-Level SQL Server Database Administrator to support the organization’s SQL Server platforms . This position will be located in Washington, D.C. and will be a fully remote within the United States position.

Responsibilities

Supports the organization’s SQL Server platforms by performing maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancements. This role is suited for DBAs with solid operational experience who are looking to expand their technical depth.

  • Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support SQL Server instances across dev, test, and production environments.

  • Develop T‑SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions.

  • Perform routine database maintenance, backups, patching, and updates.

  • Assist with SQL Server Clustering and Availability Groups.

  • Monitor performance, identify issues, and execute tuning operations.

  • Troubleshoot database connectivity, performance degradation, and service outages.

  • Support data migration and integration projects involving PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MariaDB.

  • Execute DR drills and maintain runbooks documenting recovery processes.

  • Work collaboratively with development, QA, and operations teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 4 years SQL Server administration experience.

  • Solid experience with SQL Server instances, T‑SQL scripting, SQL Clustering, and HA/DR environments.

  • Foundational experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and MS Access.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator Associate

  • CompTIA Data+ or equivalent credential

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
