Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Cloud Automation Engineer for a federal technology program supporting a large-scale federal environment. This engineer will be responsible for designing, automating, and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure using Infrastructure as Code methodologies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, and cloud networking, with experience building scalable automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines. This individual will play a key role in modernizing cloud operations, improving deployment reliability, implementing security controls, and supporting enterprise-wide cloud automation initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work within a long-term federal program leveraging cutting-edge cloud, automation, and DevOps technologies in a highly collaborative environment. Responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain Terraform modules for AWS and Azure infrastructure deployments
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for configuration management and application deployments
- Implement Infrastructure as Code standards and best practices
- Build reusable cloud automation frameworks and deployment templates
- Deploy and manage AWS and Azure cloud services
- Design and implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda and Azure technologies
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Create automated testing, validation, and security controls for deployments
- Design and support cloud networking including VPNs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, routing, and security controls
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Monitor cloud environments and establish alerting solutions
- Develop standardized cloud deployment processes and documentation
- Conduct code reviews and mentor team members on cloud automation best practices Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across the environment
Skills and Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance
- 3+ years of hands-on Terraform experience
- Strong Ansible experience for configuration management and application deployment
- Experience working in both AWS and Azure cloud environments
- Experience with AWS Lambda and Azure Logic Apps
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub Actions
- Strong scripting experience with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
- Strong Git/GitHub version control experience
- Deep understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, VNets, VPNs, routing, DNS, and TCP/IP
- Experience implementing cloud security best practices
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise
- Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and deployment issues
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch and Azure Monitor
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer Associate
- Azure Administrator or Developer Associate Certification
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate Certification
- GitHub Certifications
- Multi-cloud deployment strategy experience
- Experience supporting FedRAMP, NIST, or CIS compliance frameworks
- Experience with infrastructure testing tools such as Terratest, InSpec, or Pester
- GitOps experience
- Previous DevOps or Cloud Engineering background
- FinOps or cloud cost optimization experience
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
