Full job description
Description We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented procurement specialist to support fast-moving material and sourcing needs for engineering and operational activities in North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position plays a key role in securing direct and indirect materials needed for build and test work, with a strong focus on responsiveness, supplier coordination, and timely execution. The role is well suited for someone who can balance competing priorities, make sound sourcing decisions under pressure, and contribute to ongoing process improvements across the team.
Responsibilities:

Oversee purchasing activities for assigned statements of work, ensuring material needs are addressed accurately and on schedule.

Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders to support build, test, and operational requirements.

Source suppliers through competitive bidding processes and evaluate options based on risk, cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Track vendor performance against delivery expectations and take action to reduce supply disruptions.

Maintain procurement-related data and system activity in Ariba and other required tools to support efficient order processing.

Participate in team and operational discussions to communicate sourcing concerns, timeline risks, and potential opportunities.

Keep dashboards and shared tracking resources current so leadership and stakeholders have accurate visibility into procurement status.

Support leadership with continuous improvement efforts, including process enhancement projects and future planning initiatives.

Complete required training and follow company policies, procedures, and compliance expectations associated with the role. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline.

In lieu of a degree, 7 years of applicable experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain support is required.

Demonstrated ability to manage urgent material requests in a high-pressure environment while maintaining quality and service expectations.

Experience creating and administering purchase orders, coordinating suppliers, and supporting statements of work.

Working knowledge of sourcing practices, supplier bid evaluation, and risk-based decision-making.

Familiarity with procurement systems such as Ariba and proficiency in maintaining dashboards or shared reporting tools.

Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Exposure to continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen or similar process improvement initiatives is preferred.
