Job Description

Help drive laboratory automation, improve workflows, and solve complex technical challenges in a regulated scientific environment. We're seeking an experienced Senior Lab Automation Engineer to support and optimize automated laboratory platforms and workflows. This role combines hands-on automation support, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement while partnering with laboratory, quality, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant operations. What You'll Do

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers, robotics, plate readers, and other automated laboratory instruments.
  • Troubleshoot instrument, software, and workflow issues to minimize downtime and improve laboratory performance.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize automated laboratory methods and processes.
  • Support instrument qualification, computer system validation (CSV), calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Analyze system performance data and identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
  • Train and support laboratory personnel on automated systems and best practices.
  • Utilize LIMS, ELN, and related laboratory systems to maintain data integrity and compliant documentation.
  • Author and review SOPs, validation documents, protocols, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP/GxP, data integrity, and laboratory safety requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of industry experience supporting laboratory automation, robotics, or regulated laboratory operations.
  • Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling systems such as Hamilton, Beckman, Tecan, or similar platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for automated instrumentation, software, and laboratory workflows.
  • Experience with system validation, qualification, and change control activities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple functional teams.
  • Knowledge of GLP, GMP/GxP, data integrity requirements, and computerized system validation.

Preferred

  • Experience with laboratory automation programming, workflow development, or process optimization.
  • Experience with LIMS, ELN, and other laboratory informatics systems.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to laboratory staff.

Additional Information

  • Position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM. Travel and overtime as needed.
