Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support financial operations for a mission-driven non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate reporting, compliance, and day-to-day accounting activities in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals and hands-on experience with tax-related processes, general ledger management, and financial recordkeeping.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.

• Support corporate tax activities, including the preparation of documentation related to tax filings.

• Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, calculating liabilities, and assisting with timely submissions.

• Help maintain organized accounting records and schedules for audits, reporting, and compliance reviews.

• Assist with month-end and period-end close activities to keep financial statements current and reliable.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues efficiently. Requirements • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

• Knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

• Familiarity with corporate tax processes and related financial documentation.

• Experience handling sales tax reporting and compliance activities.

• Ability to prepare or support corporate tax return activities.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.

• Proficiency in standard accounting practices and financial reconciliation tasks.
