Job Description:

Highland Hospital is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to lead the team. Hours are Monday-Friday from 3am-11:30am with rotating weekends.

The Lead Phlebotomist directs activity of phlebotomists during shift, under the direct supervision of the SMS supervisor, to include scheduling, training, daily workloads, staff and client problem resolution and supply inventory. Provides quality phlebotomy services in order to obtain appropriate specimens for lab testing. In addition, the Lead Phlebotomist performs a variety of technical assignments in the pre-analytical phase of testing. Has a working knowledge of the safety standards and properly uses them when processing specimens. Exercises moderate skill, judgment, knowledge of terminology and common practices used in the pre-analytical technical field to insure accurate results and patient safety. Processes and interprets information involving laboratory specimens in order to insure proper testing and specimen integrity. Preforms other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

$20.50- $26.42 an hour

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education: High School degree or equivalent with six months of phlebotomy experience, or graduation from a phlebotomy training program; or an equivalent combination of education, experience or certification.

  2. Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy and customer service experience a plus. Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory phlebotomy terminology required.

  3. License/Certification Required: none
