Prep & Recovery, Outpatient Surgery Center
(stand-alone facility on campus)
Full-time, Monday – Friday; 4x10 hour shifts, 6:00am – 6:30pm
Admission & Recovery Area Nurse
Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse - Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC PACU RN) provides care to patients in accordance with ASPAN (Association Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses) guidelines. PACU RNs provide care and support to patients before, during, and after surgery. The Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC) At Dartmouth Hitchcock is a free standing center located on the DHMC Lebanon campus. The OSC operates eight operating room suites and is dedicated to providing care for adult and pediatric patients requiring same-day surgical procedures. The ultimate goal of the OSC is to provide the right care, in the right place and the right time for our patients who seek our surgical services. The OSC is a fast paced, service based patient oriented care facility.
Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care.

Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or to elevate to the care team as necessary.

Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.

Actively seeks feedback and acts to improve performance.

Engages in the governance of practice.

Manages interpersonal relationships for self and with others.

Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.

Assumes authority and accountability for the nursing care of patients while appropriately delegating elements of care to others members of the care delivery team in accordance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Prioritizes and organizes time to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred with at least 1 year of experience

Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years'
Required Licensure/Certifications

Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required
-
Advanced Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire date.
