As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure , you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Design Engineering Summer – Fall Co-op beginning in May 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Supporting development and product care projects that contribute to new product development and product improvements.

  • Measuring and modeling switchgear to support engineering and design activities.

  • Designing and drafting new mechanical components.

  • Supporting prototype assembly, test object configuration, and material sample testing activities.

  • Releasing parts into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for use in production.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.

  • Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) during the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters.

  • Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co-op program.

  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

  • This co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience applying mechanical design fundamentals to create new parts and components.

  • Experience with hands-on assembly, testing, or evaluation of material samples.

  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams.

  • Interest in engineering design, drafting, and product development activities.
