Mission Statement

Position Summary

Responsible for organizing activities for DMH clients and transporting clients to various locations for activities, doctor's appointments, and housing interviews.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar that meets the interests and needs of DMH clients.

  • Organize and facilitate a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, games, exercise programs, educational workshops, life skills training, holiday celebrations, and community outings.

  • Encourage resident participation and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment.

  • Coordinate volunteers, guest presenters, and community partners for special events and programs.

  • Monitor activity attendance and gather participant feedback to improve programming.

  • Purchase and maintain activity supplies within approved budgets.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer and telephone. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities.

  • Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing or walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more)

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more.

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis as needed to perform necessary duties.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.

  • Must have ability to work well independently in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.

  • Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required.

  • Must be 21 years or older.

  • A team player; must work well with others.

  • Must have good communication skills and pay close attention to detail.

  • Word processing experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel especially valuable.

  • Possess a valid CA driver’s license.

  • Background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures. Employment is contingent upon passing ABSO background check. Must take Protect the Mission training.

Scheduled Days: Friday- Tuesday
