Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to join a client in the commercial construction industry. This individual will lead both preconstruction and project execution efforts with a primary focus on acoustical ceiling systems, specialty ceilings, acoustical wall panels, drywall-related scopes, and other interior finishes throughout the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake markets. Responsibilities include preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, developing competitive estimates, soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing, and assembling complete bid packages. Following project award, this individual will manage project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, contract administration, change orders, field coordination, and client communication to ensure successful project delivery. The Estimator / Project Manager will partner closely with superintendents, contractors, architects, suppliers, and ownership teams to maintain project quality, profitability, and schedule performance. Additional responsibilities include conducting site walks, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, tracking project costs, resolving field issues, and supporting business growth through strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate is someone with local market knowledge who is excited to help build and expand a growing regional presence with long-term potential for branch development.

Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of estimating and/or project management experience in commercial construction
  • Experience with acoustical ceiling systems, specialty ceilings, ceiling grids, wall panels, and related interior systems
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and bid preparation
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and customer relationships
  • Knowledge of change order management, contract administration, and project cost controls
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, OnCenter, QuickBid, BuzzBid, or similar estimating software
  • Ability to conduct site visits and coordinate with field operations teams
  • Established presence or strong connections within the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton Roads, or Tidewater construction market
  • Interest in long-term career growth and helping develop an expanding operation
  • Stable work history demonstrating tenure and commitment
  • QuickBid OST experience with a willingness to transition to BuzzBid
  • Experience with Armstrong, USG, CertainTeed, Rockfon, Hunter Douglas, or other acoustical ceiling manufacturers
  • Experience with drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical wall panels, and specialty ceiling systems
  • Experience working for Division 9, Division 10, ceiling, or drywall contractors
  • Experience on both subcontractor and general contractor sides of construction projects
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience managing healthcare, education, government, or large commercial projects
  • Existing relationships with local general contractors, developers, architects, and owners throughout the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake market
