GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:The Manufacturing Engineer Intern is responsible for the development, optimization, and production volume scaling of electronic assemblies. In this role, the manufacturing engineer will work closely with operations, engineering and quality to help transition products to high volume, repeatable manufacturing. Role includes optimizing assembly flows, designing custom tooling and fixtures, resolving production issues, and researching and selecting optimal manufacturing equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Operate automated and semi-automated production equipment• Improve automated and manual electronic chip-and-wire and solder assembly processes• Identify areas in manufacturing for improvement to enhance quality, efficiency, and throughput • Develop custom tooling and fixtures to support automated and manual assembly equipment• Research and identify manufacturing equipment, including automation and manual machinery • Create or optimize existing automation equipment programs• Partner with process technicians and manufacturing representatives to develop, implement, and preform preventative maintenance on assembly equipment• Collaborate with engineering and quality to resolving manufacturing issues• Support new product introduction builds and design for manufacturability tasks• Train operators and technicians to operate automation equipment• Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:• Ability to read technical drawings and documents• Ability to work under a microscope to assemble and inspect electronic assemblies • Ability to follow cleanroom and ESD procedures• Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills.• Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.• Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.• Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing, and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment, and changes, and more.• Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities as it pertains to your job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related engineering field• Experience with automated assembly equipment preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Office and/or manufacturing environment.• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, use tools/equipment).
Travel Requirements: Yes, as required.
