Job Description

We are seeking a highly technical IAM leader to oversee the daily operation, delivery, and continued modernization of an enterprise Identity Lifecycle Management platform. Although this position carries an Associate Manager title, the role is approximately 80% technical leadership and 20% team and operational coordination. The successful candidate will remain hands-on while guiding a team of IAM engineers, establishing priorities, reviewing technical solutions, supporting production operations, and representing the IAM organization with business and technology stakeholders.

The current environment is built on SailPoint IdentityIQ, making deep, hands-on IIQ experience essential. The organization is also planning a future transition to a SaaS-based identity platform, so experience with SailPoint migrations or identity modernization initiatives is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery, operation, and support of the Identity Lifecycle Management platform.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for SailPoint IdentityIQ across identity lifecycle workflows, provisioning, application integrations, APIs, application onboarding, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Manage team priorities, workloads, backlogs, resource coverage, and competing operational needs for a team of approximately seven to eight IAM engineers.
  • Coordinate daily team activities, production support rotations, PTO coverage, delivery commitments, and resource capacity.
  • Oversee platform releases and deployments, review code changes, and ensure solutions align with established architecture, security, development, and IAM control standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents, production issues, and escalations, operating as a senior IAM engineer when hands-on support is required.
  • Evaluate technical solutions, designs, and implementation approaches to ensure they are scalable, secure, reliable, and supportable.
  • Lead technical design activities for identity lifecycle products, integrations, automations, and application onboarding solutions.
  • Facilitate work estimation, planning, and prioritization while establishing achievable delivery goals and timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to IAM engineers while promoting collaboration and independent problem-solving.
  • Serve as a business-facing representative and primary liaison for the IAM team.
  • Partner with application teams, Active Directory, enterprise architecture, security, ServiceNow, platform, infrastructure, operations, and other business and technology stakeholders.
  • Lead solution-design workshops that translate business and functional requirements into scalable identity solutions.
  • Present technical recommendations and clearly communicate platform issues, risks, priorities, dependencies, and delivery progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support Joiner-Mover-Leaver processes, IAM automations, application onboarding, and ServiceNow and SailPoint integrations.
  • Support the organization’s future migration from SailPoint IdentityIQ to a SaaS-based identity platform.
  • Independently drive IAM initiatives and adjust plans and priorities based on changing business needs, technical challenges, and stakeholder feedback.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 5–7 years of software development experience, including 2 years in a development-focused leadership role.
  • 8+ years of experience developing and supporting high-performance, highly scalable applications in an Agile environment, depending on education, with relevant experience in Identity and Access Management or Identity Governance and Administration.
  • Deep hands-on experience with SailPoint IdentityIQ, including identity lifecycle workflows, provisioning, application integrations, APIs, application onboarding, troubleshooting, and platform support.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with the underlying technologies of the product or platform, including programming languages, databases, and application integrations.
  • Previous experience as a senior IAM engineer, IAM technical lead, platform lead, or hands-on engineering manager.
  • Experience managing technical backlogs, production support rotations, resource coverage, and competing operational priorities.
  • Experience facilitating solution-design workshops and presenting technical recommendations to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Lean, XP, Kanban, and other Agile development techniques.
  • Fluency in DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment and delivery, configuration management, containerization, infrastructure as code, and monitoring.
  • Experience supporting or leading a migration from SailPoint IdentityIQ to SailPoint Identity Security Cloud or another SaaS-based identity platform.
  • Experience contributing to an enterprise identity modernization or IAM transformation initiative.
  • Hands-on experience integrating SailPoint with ServiceNow, Active Directory, HR systems, or other enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting IAM operations within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience coordinating work across geographically distributed or offshore engineering teams.
  • Experience improving identity processes through workflow automation, platform optimization, or operational standardization.
