Full job description

Build or Advance Your Career in Transportation and Strategic Growth Altom Transport is seeking a curious, analytical, and relationship-driven Strategic Growth Associate to help identify new business opportunities, support customers, and develop practical transportation solutions. Seeking someone who has experience in inside sales, business development, customer service, logistics, account management, or analytics. Previous transportation experience is needed. You will work directly with the Director of Strategic Growth and Marketing while collaborating with operations, safety, sales, and other departments. You will learn how customer needs, equipment capabilities, pricing, capacity, and profitability come together and help turn that information into lasting customer partnerships. Transportation is like solving a constantly changing puzzle. Every opportunity involves different products, locations, schedules, equipment requirements, and customer expectations. In this position, you will help bring those pieces together to develop solutions that work for both our customers and our operations. What You’ll Do

  • Research prospective customers, markets, facilities, and transportation opportunities.
  • Support lead generation and conduct professional outreach to prospective customers.
  • Build relationships with customers, prospects, and industry partners.
  • Gather information about customer products, facilities, shipping volumes, schedules, and transportation requirements.
  • Learn Altom Transport’s equipment, services, and operational capabilities.
  • Evaluate whether customer opportunities are a good fit for our equipment and operations.
  • Contribute to lane analysis, pricing, capacity planning, and profitability reviews.
  • Forecast customer volumes and potential capacity needs.
  • Prepare customer proposals, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and opportunity summaries.
  • Coordinate new-customer onboarding with operations, safety, sales, and other departments.
  • Maintain accurate and organized customer, lane, pricing, and operational information.
  • Respond to customer questions and help provide a dependable, positive experience.
  • Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, marketing activities, and industry events.
  • Identify information and opportunities that can help customers and internal teams operate more effectively.
  • Take on greater responsibility as your knowledge of the business grows.

Requirements What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
  • Analytical thinking and practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with numbers, spreadsheets, and business information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.
  • Professionalism when communicating with customers and industry partners.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain, logistics, analytics, communications, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, transferable skills, and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, inside sales, customer service, account management, operations, pricing, analytics, or business development is helpful—but not required.

A Role for Different Experience Levels

  • If you are beginning your career or changing industries, this position offers paid training and hands-on exposure to customer development, transportation operations, pricing, analytics, and marketing.
  • If you already have relevant experience, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills to customer development, pricing analysis, relationship management, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • You may be a great fit if you enjoy working with both people and data, asking thoughtful questions, solving changing problems, and turning detailed information into practical business solutions.
