Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Relationship Manager, Trust Counsel to serve as a trusted legal advisor to high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, and internal business partners on complex trust and estate matters. This role combines sophisticated trust and estate expertise with strong relationship management skills, providing guidance on trust administration, fiduciary responsibilities, estate settlement, wealth transfer strategies, regulatory compliance, and estate planning matters. The ideal candidate will be a licensed attorney with significant trust and estate experience who can confidently advise clients, navigate complex fiduciary and family dynamics, and deliver practical, risk-balanced solutions. This position works closely with trustees, beneficiaries, financial advisors, tax professionals, wealth management teams, and external counsel to provide exceptional client service and fiduciary guidance.
Skills and Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of experience in trust and estate law, estate planning, probate, trust administration, estate settlement, fiduciary services, or a related practice area.
- Experience advising trustees, beneficiaries, executors, conservators, and other fiduciaries.
- Strong knowledge of trust administration, fiduciary principles, estate planning strategies, wealth transfer planning, probate, and estate settlement processes.
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and interpreting trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related estate planning documents.
- Ability to provide practical legal guidance while balancing client objectives, fiduciary responsibilities, legal risks, and business considerations.
- Excellent communication, analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build credibility and serve as a trusted advisor.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Collaborative approach with experience working across legal, trust administration, wealth management, tax, and financial services teams.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Background within a trust company, private bank, wealth management firm, fiduciary services organization, or private client legal practice.
- Strong understanding of trust, fiduciary, probate, and regulatory frameworks.
