Summary About the Position: Serves as a staff-level Human Resources (HR) Specialist (Military) for the Medical Readiness Command (MRC) with responsibility for providing support regarding a wide variety of military personnel programs. Responsibilities Participates in the development and administration of staff projects in various military HR program areas. Participates in overseeing the implementation and execution of military personnel policies and programs to ensure proper level of services. Provides guidance, and customer service support to subordinate commands on all areas of military HR management and regulations, policies and procedures. Serves as a technical expert managing and overseeing several military personnel action programs for the command. Ensures all personnel actions are reviewed for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Prepares necessary supporting documentation for decision makers to include decision papers and other forms of correspondence. Prepares reports and presents briefings to inform management of the results for use in the decision-making process or for in-progress status information. Prepares recommendations for guidance and procedures and coordinates implementation of such guidance. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support for various military personnel programs; understanding military human resources management to assess and make recommendations on plans and proposals, as well as analyze data extracts and reports from automated databases; managing the implementation of military personnel policies and programs to ensure services are delivered properly; AND using computer software to assist with office tasks, such as processing personnel action request. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
