Position Overview

The Criminal Defense Department is seeking a full-time Criminal Defense Legal Assistant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for legal professionals with strong paralegal and case management skills, a solid understanding of criminal defense law, and a commitment to delivering excellent client service.

Candidates must possess a law degree (JD or equivalent) from their home country and have relevant legal experience. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced remote environment.

Work Schedule

  • This position requires availability Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time (U.S.).

  • Applicants must be able to consistently work during these hours.

Compensation

  • $8.00 – $9.00 USD per hour

  • Placement within this compensation range will be determined solely by Price Benowitz LLP based on the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, skill set, and credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize documents for client meetings, court filings, discovery, and legal proceedings.

  • Manage and maintain client files and electronic records with accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Conduct legal research and assist in preparing case summaries, motions, and other legal documents.

  • Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates.

  • Draft correspondence to clients, courts, prosecutors, and opposing counsel.

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness materials, and supporting documentation.

  • Monitor case deadlines and maintain attorney calendars.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.

  • Perform additional administrative and legal support duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • JD or equivalent law degree from your home country required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Case Manager in a law firm environment preferred.

  • Criminal Defense experience strongly preferred.

  • Advanced English proficiency (C1-C2 level), including excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.

  • Experience using legal case management software.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
