Position Summary

The Senior Mobile Crane Technician performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and complex repairs on mobile cranes to ensure compliance, reliability, and safety. This role requires advanced technical expertise across mechanical, hydraulic, structural, and electrical systems, including troubleshooting with OEM manuals and adherence to OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and NAVFAC P-307 standards. The technician documents service records and estimates, maintains accountability for tools and equipment, and provides solutions for component-level and major repair needs. Operating in field and shop environments, the Sr. Mobile Crane Technician plays a key role in supporting defense readiness through safe and efficient crane operations.

Responsibilities:

Functional Requirements

  • Perform all tasks in compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations (OSHA, ASME, ANSI, NAVFAC P-307).

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair crane mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural systems.

  • Conduct inspections according to OEM, OSHA, and NAVFAC standards.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and customer personnel.

  • Maintain accountability and condition of assigned tools and equipment.

  • Generate accurate documentation for estimates and service records.

  • Troubleshoot commercial components using OEM manuals for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components.

  • Develop solutions and estimates for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural component-level repairs.

  • Gather the necessary data for senior personnel to develop estimates for major repairs, overhauls, and crane replacements.

Team Support

  • Interact with other team members, government personnel, and customers.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum 10 years’ crane repair/inspection experience

  • Experience with Grove, Linkbelt, Terex, and other OEMs

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and PLCs

  • Familiarity with hydraulic and structural systems

  • Proficient in computer and digital systems

  • Able to work independently

  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record required.

  • Willingness to work at heights

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Ability to pass a physical

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) base access

  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 15-20 years’ crane repair/inspection experience

  • Technical Certifications Preferred

  • CDL Class A and OEM certifications

Physical Requirements:

This job operates in field environments, which may include both indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to industrial noise and moving equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.

  • Regularly required to lift, carry, push or move 50 pounds; occasionally may be required to move heavier loads with assistance.

  • Must be able to work at heights up to 130 feet above the ground level.

  • Must be able to use hands and arms to handle tools, operate equipment, and perform physical tasks.

  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dusty environments.

  • Must maintain the visual and auditory ability to safely navigate job sites and operate or work around heavy equipment.

Travel Requirements:

Overnight travel may be required, up to 16 weeks annually. The travel may be local, regional, or national and may be by car, rail, or air.
