Job Summary
In partnership with Lindauer, Bowdoin College is seeking a Development Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Campaigns for its extraordinary Development and Alumni Relations team.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, this leader will serve
as a strategic advisor, operational partner, and connective force for a division of nearly 60
professionals. They will be responsible for leading campaign management for Bowdoin’s upcoming
comprehensive campaign as well as future institutional priorities.
The successful candidate will bring significant fundraising and campaign experience, strong
judgment, and the ability to build trust and create clarity in a complex, fast-moving environment.
Bowdoin offers an experienced advancement leader the opportunity to build the structures and
partnerships that will turn ambitious institutional priorities into lasting impact.
The salary range for this position is $240,000–$260,000 annually.

Education/Skills Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and complex multi-year projects.

Experience with comprehensive campaigns, including silent phase strategy, case
development, and volunteer management.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Minimum 10 years of fundraising experience with increasingly significant responsibilities in
major gifts, development operations, campaign management, strategic planning, and team
leadership, ideally in higher education or a complex nonprofit.
Standard Work Days and Hours
Standard administrative hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm. Exempt positions require the time commitment necessary to complete the essential duties of the position.
