Our Unique Work: **   **

The Markets Group of NY Fed implements monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve System, executes lender of last resort operations for depository institutions in the Fed’s Second District, provides payments and custody services to foreign central banks, and acts as fiscal agent for the U.S. Treasury.

As part of these responsibilities, the mission of the trading desk in the Markets Group is to:

  • Implement domestic open market and foreign currency operations in a manner that is consistent with directivesof the Federal Open Market Committee.

  • Monitor and analyze global financial markets to inform the formulation and implementation of monetary policy.

  • Produce New York Fed Reference Ratesusing transactional data.

  • Provide capital markets-relatedtransactionserviceson behalf ofthe U.S. Treasury.

  • Conduct financial market transactionson behalf of foreign and international monetary authorities (FIMA).

**How ** You’ll ** Make an Impact as a ** Capital Markets Trading Analyst:

Your work will involve the maintenance and analysis of financial markets and transactional data, supporting the conduct of financial market operations to implement monetary policy and act as fiscal agent for the US Treasury, and market monitoring and analysis. More specifically, you will:

  • Maintain, improve, and build a variety of critical datasets and tools that supportmonetary policy operations andfiscal agentactivities;

  • Develop an understanding ofa variety ofrelevantdata sources, such asTRACEtrade data, and others. Work toward integrating those data sourcesand generating analysis to support the team’s daily activities. This may include integrating data into dashboards or using othervisualizationtools;

  • Support and conduct the planning and execution ofmonetary policyoperations (i.e.purchasesand sales of Treasuries, repos, reverse repos)and/orfiscal agenttransactions(i.e.Treasurydebt auctions):

  • Analyze and report on developments infinancial marketsastheyrelate tomonetaryand fiscalpolicy;

  • Assistsenior staff members with ad-hoc projects related to policy, operations, marketanalysisand data analysis

  • Demonstrated interest infinancial markets and monetary policy including the ability to discuss the basic functions of the Federal Reserve

  • Full-time workplace experiencehandlingand manipulatingcomplex data sets

  • Experience with Microsoft excel (can perform complex functions)

  • Familiaritywith data analysisor visualization tools suchas: Tableau/Power BI, SQL, Python,R,and/or Bloomberg

  • Familiarity with AI capabilities and productivity tools which could beleveragedto optimize operational and analytical processes and products

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
