Cox Automotive is looking for a Software Engineer II. Working as part of a collaborative product and engineering team, you'll contribute to solutions that support critical business operations, improve customer experiences, and enable the next generation of technology-driven innovation across the organization. You'll have the opportunity to contribute across the full stack, participate in technical design discussions, collaborate on product strategy and delivery, and help shape how modern software engineering practices evolve within a business that is actively investing in innovation, automation, and AI-driven transformation.
About the Team The Funk-Stack team is at the center of a major transformation initiative, building the next-generation reporting platform for Cox Automotive's dealer-facing products. As reporting capabilities migrate from MicroStrategy to LOGI, our team is responsible for developing the platform and reusable reporting components that power a modern, unified reporting experience. Our goal is simple: provide dealers with a single destination where they can access products, business insights, and operational reports through an intuitive self-service experience. By leveraging LOGI, Snowflake, and modern cloud technologies, we're creating scalable reporting solutions used across multiple business units and serving thousands of dealer customers. This platform continues to grow rapidly, creating exciting opportunities to influence architecture, build new capabilities, and solve complex data visualization challenges.
What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer II, you'll help design, develop, and enhance a modern reporting platform that enables business teams to create rich, data-driven experiences without extensive custom development. In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain reusable reporting components, dashboards, and data visualization features within the LOGI platform.
- Build interactive user experiences using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Design and develop backend services and APIs utilizing Java and/or Python.
- Create and optimize SQL queries that power reporting and analytics solutions.
- Work with Snowflake datasets and data sources to deliver accurate, performant reporting experiences.
- Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Support the ongoing migration of reporting capabilities from MicroStrategy to LOGI.
- Contribute to data integration and ETL processes that ensure reliable access to business-critical data.
- Deploy and support cloud-native applications within AWS environments.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Availability for rotational on-call duties outside of standard business hours may be required.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 2 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or 14 years’ experience in a related field.
- 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience developing applications with React.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience developing backend services using Java and/or Python.
- Experience working with AWS cloud technologies.
- Understanding of software development best practices, testing methodologies, and CI/CD concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
- Experience with reporting, business intelligence, or analytics platforms such as LOGI, MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies.
- Experience building or supporting data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration solutions.
- Experience working with Snowflake or large-scale cloud data platforms.
- Familiarity with containerized and cloud-native application architectures.
We're looking for engineers who:
- Bring a positive, team-first attitude.
- Are eager to learn new technologies and business domains.
- Enjoy solving complex problems and taking ownership.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate well across technical and non-technical teams.
- Leave their ego at the door and focus on collective success.
- Thrive in a fast-growing environment where priorities evolve and opportunities to make an impact are abundant.
Why Join Us? You'll have the opportunity to help shape a rapidly expanding platform that serves critical business reporting needs across Cox Automotive. Your work will directly impact dealer customers, business stakeholders, and future platform capabilities while giving you exposure to modern cloud, data, and reporting technologies at enterprise scale
