Attorney II- Legal Assistance Developer

The Legal Assistance Developer (LAD) will provide state leadership in developing legal assistance programs throughout South Carolina for older individuals.

Job Duties:

• Coordinates the provisions of legal assistance while building and maintaining statewide networks connecting Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), legal providers, and private attorneys.
• Develops and provides technical assistance, training, and other support to South Carolina AAA's, legal assistance providers, ombudsman programs and adult protective services as appropriate.
• Collaborates on activities designed to enhance access to legal assistance and educational resources for older adults in South Carolina.
• Assists older individuals in understanding, utilizing, and maintaining their rights authorized by law in reference to financial management, risk of guardianship, conservatorship, and other fiduciary proceedings.
• Works to improve the quality and quantity of legal services provided to older individuals in a state capacity.

A juror's degree, member of the South Carolina Bar, and must satisfy Rule 403 Requirements.Knowledge of the Older Americans Act (OAA) and services delivered through the national aging network. Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to interpret and apply laws and judicial decisions. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail.
