About this Position As our Buyer Associate, you will support ASTRO's upstream supply initiatives by sourcing and purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers, suppliers, traders, wholesale markets, and importers. You will work closely with the Category and Upstream teams to fulfill SKUs that cannot be supplied through existing processing houses, while ensuring the right quality, availability, pricing, and COGS. This is a highly hands-on role for someone with strong fresh produce knowledge who enjoys working directly in the field and is comfortable with flexible working hours, including nighttime buying activities at wholesale markets.

Job Description As our Astronaut, your missions are:

• Source and purchase fresh fruits & vegetables from farmers, suppliers, traders, wholesale markets, and importers based on ASTRO's requirements.
• Select products based on quality, freshness, specifications, availability, and pricing.
• Conduct market visits and price checks to understand market pricing, product availability, and fresh produce trends.
• Negotiate prices and purchasing terms to achieve target COGS.
• Monitor PO fulfillment, product consistency, availability, and supplier performance.
• Identify, onboard, and maintain relationships with farmers, suppliers, traders, and other market players.
• Support product receiving, quality assessment, and issue resolution related to quality, pricing, or fulfillment.
• Work closely with Category, Upstream, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure smooth and reliable supply.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, supplier, and market records.
• Support upstream sourcing initiatives to improve SKU coverage and fulfillment.
• Be comfortable conducting field and market visits, including nighttime buying activities when required.

Job Requirements In order to launch the missions successfully, you need to have:

• 1–3 years of experience in buying, purchasing, procurement, sourcing, trading, agritech, agriculture, agribusiness, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of fresh fruits and vegetables, including product quality, freshness, specifications, pricing, seasonality, shelf life, and market dynamics.
• Hands-on experience purchasing or sourcing fresh/frozen products directly from farmers, suppliers, traders, wholesale markets, or importers is highly preferred.
• Experience in fresh produce, food ingredients, F&B, grocery, agriculture, FMCG, or related categories is highly preferred.
• Experience in supplier or farmer acquisition and relationship management.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills, with the ability to work within target COGS.
• Comfortable conducting product selection and purchasing decisions directly in the field.
• Comfortable working with suppliers, farmers, traders, and market players.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets for purchasing, pricing, and supplier tracking.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Highly hands-on, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including nighttime buying activities when required.
• Willing to travel and be mobile across farms, suppliers, wholesale markets, and other locations based on operational needs.
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Operations, or related disciplines is preferred, but all educational backgrounds are welcome.
