Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to help turn hurricane damage assessments into sound repair decisions for federal facilities in Kauai, Hawaii. Scopes may range from emergency weatherproofing and water damage mitigation to building envelope, utility, and infrastructure restoration. You will develop estimates while field information is still evolving, test quantities and pricing against site conditions, and explain the cost effects of access, logistics, schedule, and uncertainty. Your work will give project leaders a defensible basis for comparing options, planning procurement, and managing changes as repairs advance.

This role will require an onsite presence in Kauai, Hawaii and is eligible for per diem related expenses when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of conceptual, detailed, and independent cost estimates for facility and infrastructure repairs.

  • Develop quantity takeoffs, labor and equipment assumptions, unit pricing, and subcontractor pricing analyses.

  • Assess scope, schedule, access, logistics, escalation, and contingency impacts on project cost.

  • Review drawings, field reports, repair narratives, and contractor proposals for cost completeness.

  • Document estimate bases, assumptions, exclusions, risks, and changes between estimate versions.

  • Coordinate with engineers, construction managers, schedulers, and subcontractors to validate scope and pricing.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of developing construction cost estimates for complex facility or infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 16+ years of developing construction cost estimates for complex facility or infrastructure projects.

  • Experience estimating federal construction, emergency repairs, or building restoration.

  • Experience with cost estimating software and recognized cost databases.
