Information Technology Services (ITS) currently has an opening for an IT Manager IV position in our Chinden office in Boise. This position will play a critical role in aligning IT initiatives with the organization's strategic goals and agency needs. They will be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline operations and ensuring IT efforts support overall business objectives. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and customer engagement to drive continuous improvement across IT processes and deliver impactful results for over 50 state agencies and over 12,000 staff.

Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.

Example of Duties:

MANAGEMENT

  • Directs multiple projects through subordinate IT managers

  • Directs development and approves implementation of policies and procedures

  • Evaluates performance; directs and monitors training activities.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

  • Aligns IT initiatives with the organization's strategic goals and agency needs.

  • Develops and implements IT strategies that support organizational growth, enhance service delivery, and support overall business objectives.

OPERATIONS

  • Ensures resources and organizational structure are operating effectively

  • Directs the integration of technology solutions across multiple units

  • Directs, develops, and presents to management various analyses and solutions

  • Develops and manages current and future budget plans for the areas managed, including prioritizing expenditures

Minimum Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of

  • Current industry trends, products, and services in information systems, processing equipment, and software.

  • Typically gained by at least five years of progressively responsible experience in the information technology (IT) field within the last ten years.

Experience

  • Managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors: Typically gained by at least four years of managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors.

  • Developing and controlling an operating budget: Typically gained by four years of experience developing and controlling an operating budget.

  • Developing and implementing IT policies and procedures: Typically gained by at least four years of experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures. This experience should have impacted a large program and/or multiple programs.

  • Advising top-level management regarding major IT matters: Typically gained by five years of experience advising top-level management regarding major IT matters. This will include identifying when an issue needs to be escalated, appropriate audience to notify and method of communication.

  • Developing short-and long-range plans and assessing training needs: Typically gained by at least four years of experience in short and long-range planning including developing and implementing policies and procedures. Experience should have included identifying current and future needs, analyzing, and forecasting trends and identifying solutions.
