POSITION SUMMARY:

The Continuous Improvement Tech is responsible for absorbing, training, coaching, and implementing the principles that impact the Company’s safety, quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean Sigma tools, materials, machines, and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in start-up meeting.

  • Works on production floor 80% of time.

  • Develops an understanding and apply lean principles.

  • Trains and mentors Leads in 5S principles.

  • Trains and mentors’ team to identify and reduce the 7 waste.

  • Trains and mentors Leads takt time cycle time bar charts.

  • Trains and mentors Leads in standardized work.

  • Trains and mentors A3 problem solving process.

  • Trains and mentors for MDI.

  • Aids Supervisor in efficient use of machinery, equipment, and labor.

  • Performs daily safety and quality Gemba.

  • Performs standardized work audits, assists team with updating standardized work and maintains updated Standardized Work in Excel.

  • Leads or participates with team in point Kaizen or Kaizen events.

  • Owns A3 process for Quality and Scrap.

  • Summarizes Improvements Using Power Point

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Previous industrial engineering experience helpful.

  • Kaizen and/or Lean experience helpful.

  • Computer literate with Excel, Power Point, Word experience.

  • Experience with CAD tools helpful.

  • Strong organizational abilities in record keeping, filing and document preparation.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and report data accurately.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Sharp production focus with a drive for accurate and timely results.

  • Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate the job.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Analytical, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Must be able to be self-directed.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular walking and standing.

  • Occasional computer work, sitting and lifting to 50lbs.

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip and climb.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
