College Intern - NPI System Interaction Engineer Description - What a College Intern - NPI System Interaction Engineer does at HP:

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows by reducing manual effort, simplifying data consolidation, and improving process visibility.
  • Develop or support AI/automation solutions such as scripts, dashboards, workflow tools, or data templates to improve productivity, reporting accuracy, and decision-making.
  • Assist in product development processes by translating market needs into technical requirements and connecting workflow improvements to engineering execution needs.
  • Contribute to the design, testing, and characterization of initial and over-life product performance at the system level, including opportunities to automate test data analysis and reporting.
  • Support issue resolution by assisting in structured lean problem-solving methods and using digital tools to improve tracking, follow-up, and knowledge reuse.
  • Collaborate with local and international teams, including engineering and manufacturing partners, to understand workflow needs, deploy practical automation improvements, and support smooth product launches.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related major.
  • Able to commit for a 5-6 months full time internship, starting in January 2027.
  • Interest or experience in AI tools, automation, scripting, data analytics, dashboarding, or workflow digitization.
  • Knowledge or interest in inkjet print systems, printhead integration, reliability testing and statistics, and R&D product life cycle execution.
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate across different time zones.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think systemically, identify workflow connections, and translate process gaps into practical improvement ideas.
  • Growth mindset, flexibility, and adaptability.
