Description

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • People: None, other than self

  • Data: Vendor lists, customer information, Magazine Manager, etc.

  • Things: Computer, telephone, all department files.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates events in conjunction with the pre-established budget parameters. Coordinate and manage ticket sales functions for each event. Assist sales team with event sponsorship opportunities, and booth sales.

  • Coordinates planning and operational aspects of assigned events. This includes identifying and negotiating contracts with local venues, food & beverage catering, audio visual, photography, awards, and commercial printing vendors.

  • Collaborate with sales, editorial, and publisher on community events planning and associated marketing and promotion initiatives.

  • Work efficiently and effectively with in-house staff, customers, and vendors.

  • Suggests, initiates, and implements new methods and procedures to enhance In Business events.

  • Develops promotional plans and coordinates in-house and outside media promotion of In Business events within budget parameters.

  • Create and coordinate timeline and specific duties for all In Business Madison events.

  • Communicates clearly both verbally and in written form, with the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

  • As requested, assist Publisher or Sales Manager with product offerings and its supporting materials, including product overviews, sponsorship packages and sell sheets.

  • Maintain a “customer comes first” environment with a proactive commitment to internal and external customer service.

  • Actively participates in the Great Game of Business.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Publisher.

Qualifications

Must be imaginative, creative, resourceful, organized, able to work independently, follow through on projects and meet deadlines. Maintain a valid driver’s license.

Skills: Marketing and branding skills. Negotiation skills. Strong communication skills, both written and orally. Detail oriented.

Knowledge: College degree or equivalent successful career track with a minimum of two years in advertising, marketing, or business. Experience with event planning, coordination, and execution. Solid experience and knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing applications, such as MS Excel, MS Word, etc. Experience in print publication mechanical and communication workflow processes preferred.
