Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a full-time Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to join our hospital-based Behavioral Health team in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

This position offers a 7-on/7-off schedule with 10-hour day shifts, providing a predictable schedule and approximately 26 weeks off annually, along with compensated call coverage.

The psychiatrist will join an interdisciplinary team caring for medically complex patients throughout Lancaster General Hospital and practice within an integrated behavioral health model that includes our Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), modeled after the Yale New Haven approach.

Our BIT embeds behavioral health expertise within the hospital to help identify and assess patients with behavioral health needs and support medical and nursing teams in caring for patients whose psychiatric or behavioral conditions may complicate their medical care.

The Role

The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist provides psychiatric consultation for adult patients across the hospital, including evaluation and treatment of mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, delirium, suicide risk, behavioral complications of medical illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders.

The psychiatrist works closely with medical and surgical teams, the Behavioral Intervention Team, and other behavioral health services on assessment, treatment planning, medication management, safety planning, disposition, and transitions of care.

Physicians also participate in a compensated call structure supporting hospital consult services, the PATH unit, and Emergency Department coverage.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

  • Eligible for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license

  • Consultation-Liaison fellowship training welcomed but not required
