Description
Robert Half Legal is partnering with a prestigious full-service regional law firm in Century City in its search for an HR Assistant. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering the chance to join a highly regarded firm known for its collaborative culture and professional environment. The position is fully onsite and will support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department across recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee records management, and general HR support functions.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented administrative professional who is looking to grow a long-term career within Human Resources in a law firm environment.
Responsibilities

Assist with employee onboarding and new hire orientation processes

Prepare, maintain, and organize onboarding packets and personnel files
-
Enter and update employee information within HRIS and payroll systems
-
Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee benefit changes
-
Support employees with online benefits enrollment and general benefits-related questions
-
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR documentation is properly filed and archived electronically
-
Scan, upload, and organize personnel documents into electronic filing systems
-
Assist with staff recruiting initiatives, including scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate communications, and preparing recruiting materials

Draft offer letters, onboarding documents, and other HR correspondence as needed

Update and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and internal HR documents
-
Track employee acknowledgments, certifications, and compliance-related documentation
-
Assist with new hire background checks and pre-employment screening processes

Monitor HR inboxes and respond to routine employee inquiries

Support payroll processing activities by entering employee data and assisting with audits of personnel information

Prepare reports and spreadsheets related to headcount, recruiting activity, and HR metrics
-
Assist with employee events, trainings, and engagement initiatives
-
Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive HR matters

Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
-
1+ years of HR, recruiting, payroll, office administration, or related experience preferred
-
Prior law firm, professional services, or corporate office experience is a plus
-
Familiarity with onboarding, benefits administration, or recruiting coordination strongly preferred
-
Experience working with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems is highly desired
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
-
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
-
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
-
Contract Pay: $25.00-$34.00 per hour, depending on experience
-
Conversion Pay: Upon successful conversion to a permanent employee, compensation may increase up to $38.50 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit
