Full job description

Magic Spoon reimagines your childhood breakfasts favorites with more protein, less sugar, and more fun. Since launching in 2019, we've brought our unbelievably tasty cereal to over one million customers online and over 20,000 stores nationwide. With our recently launched Protein Treats and Protein Granola we're continuing to find new ways to make mornings magical - all made possible by our incredible team. This role, Sr Associate, Procurement (Cost Opt), is focused on sourcing raw materials, executing cost optimization projects, and managing supplier bidding processes to support our margin expansion goals. You'll work closely with the Director of Operations to drive COGS savings across our ingredient and packaging supply base while maintaining the quality and supply continuity our brand demands. The right person is analytical, commercially minded, and energized by the fast-paced nature of a high-growth CPG business. This is a full time role with a preference for in person/hybrid work based in Tribeca, New York City (Tue/Wed/Thu in office). We are also open to remote candidates across the US. What You’ll Do

  • Support sourcing projects for raw materials and packaging components, from market research through supplier selection and contracting.
  • Run competitive bidding processes across key ingredient and packaging categories, evaluating suppliers on cost, quality, capacity, and reliability.
  • Track and analyze raw material commodity markets (dairy proteins, sweeteners, grains, oils, packaging substrates, etc.) to identify cost risks and savings opportunities.
  • Maintain cost models that quantify savings opportunities and support procurement decisions with data.
  • Support annual and quarterly COGS optimization initiatives
  • Assist with day-to-day supplier relationships, including pricing negotiations, supply agreements, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Finance, and Operations to ensure sourcing decisions align with product specs, quality standards, and commercialization timelines.
  • Maintain organized documentation of supplier contracts, pricing benchmarks, and project trackers.
  • Monitor industry trends, supply chain disruptions, and competitive dynamics to proactively flag risks and opportunities.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or a related function within CPG, food & beverage, or consumer products.
  • Demonstrated experience running competitive bidding processes and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills - you’re comfortable building cost models, analyzing market data, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Familiarity with raw material and commodity ingredients relevant to food manufacturing (proteins, sweeteners, grains, fats/oils, packaging).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings to cross-functional partners.
  • Comfortable engaging suppliers directly — calls, site visits, whatever it takes.
  • A self-starter mentality with a bias toward action; comfortable operating with limited oversight in a lean, fast-moving environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with ERP or procurement platforms is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary & equity
  • Bonus eligibility
  • 100% covered Health, Vision, Dental insurance (50% covered for dependents)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous parental leave
  • Flexible vacation
  • Paid company holidays
  • Paid sick leave
  • Catered lunch in office
  • Dog friendly office
  • Unlimited cereal ✨ 🥣
