  • Handles and resolves customer inquiries and complaints regarding laboratory results and test requirements.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment, adhering to laboratory, hospital, and regulatory policies.
  • Generates and reports results for accurate diagnoses and prognoses influencing patient care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and independent judgment to correlate and interpret data.
  • Manages laboratory computer systems.
  • Ensures accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results.
  • Compiles and reviews reports to ensure timely collection, processing, and testing of samples.
  • Resolves unusual test orders by following up with caregivers, reference labs, or pathology.
  • Participates in new associate and student training and orientation.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots instruments, documenting activities.
  • Completes required quality control and maintenance, recognizing variances and documenting corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • N/A

Education:

  • Bachelor's [Required]

Field of Study:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biological, Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution; OR

  • Bachelor's degree equivalency with:

  • 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; OR

  • 24 semester hours of science courses, including:• 6 semester hours of Chemistry

  • 6 semester hours of Biology

  • 12 semester hours of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory Technology (any combination)

  • AND completion of a laboratory training program that includes one of the following:

  • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP (training may be included in the semester hours listed above); OR

  • At least 3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which testing is performed; OR

  • Successful completion of at least a 50-week official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have previously held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); OR

  • Qualified and served as high-complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995, in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have performed such duties continuously since December 28, 2024.

  • 1+ year of related work experience [Preferred]
