Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Bassett Army Community Hospital in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Provide Soldiers with clear explanations of required forms, including intake and physical forms, to ensure all medical conditions are accurately documented and assessed.
- Coordinate with physicians, physician assistants, and specialty clinics to ensure all abnormal findings are evaluated and all required consults are completed.
- Performs technical and organizational support duties involving work measurement, forecasting, capacity planning, and scheduling.
- Gather historical data, develops statistical information, prepares data for analysis, and compiles information for briefings and presentations.
- Convert spreadsheet data into charts, graphs, and report formats and transfers data between software programs.
Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation systems to verify patient information, automated database systems to document personnel data and create medical case reports, reviewing medical records for accuracy; advising patients on the medical evaluation process, explaining medical forms and medical test preparations, and coordination of patient visits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations Statutory return rights for current DoD employees are applicable in many circumstances. Applicants selected from the contiguous United States (contiguous United States consists of the 48 adjoining U.S. states plus Washington, D.C., on the continent of North America) will be afforded pay retention in circumstances in which the basic rate of pay would otherwise be reduced if selected for the position. Certification - Position requires the completion of the 6I-F4/340-F3DL training and certification course within 180 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
