Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on Automation & Controls Technician to troubleshoot, improve, and support automated manufacturing equipment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong controls, automation, or industrial electrical background who enjoys solving complex problems, integrating new equipment, and supporting production operations.
We're looking for someone whose primary strengths are automation, controls, PLCs, and electrical troubleshooting, with a willingness to support maintenance activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls, automation, and PLC-related issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
- Make PLC and automation program modifications as needed.
- Integrate new equipment into existing production lines.
- Commission and support new equipment installations.
- Troubleshoot I/O, sensors, relays, VFDs, HMIs, and machine communications.
- Support conveyors, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Perform maintenance and equipment repairs as needed.
- Assist with continuous improvement and automation projects.
Skills and Requirements
- Controls, automation, or industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to read electrical schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and integrating new equipment into production lines.
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, I/O, and industrial controls.
- Strong independent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to support maintenance activities as needed.
- Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC experience.
- Robotics experience (Fanuc, ABB, etc.)
- Equipment commissioning and startup experience
- Manufacturing experience in plastics, packaging, automotive, food & beverage, or pharmaceuticals.
- Degree or technical training in Automation, Controls, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
